!!READ FIRST!!
This guide is aimed at all the 1.0, 1.1 and 1.3 beast owners, who want to give their
fiesta a good sound for not a lot of money!
I only did this originally because i wanted the same thing,
but i didn't think i would be writing a guide on it!
So im not going to say "yeah it will make your car faster" or "yeah it
will definitely make your car sound the best in the world!"
so don't take it too seriously!!
So yeah, for people who are maybe considering doing something
like this themselves, here is the way i did it!

Tools Needed:
-Hack saw
-Some kind of silicone adhesive (sealer)
-M10 thread cutting tap and tap wrench
-M10 bolt long enough to pass through the filter box
(or how i did it, modify the bolt that came with the filter box--all this will be explained--)
-Screw driver
-Maybe zip ties
Parts Needed:
-The air filter box that sits ontop of a mk3 Astra engine!
WITH the 2 bolts that bolt it down!
(i have also seen these on Corsas too)
-A sports filter (i bought the most cheapest one i could find,
but I'd imagine the well known makes are better in some way..)
-Some kind of pipe/hose off another car that will go from the filter
too the intake (i found mine on a Renault van,
not sure what type it was...but you only have to go around
a scrap yard for 5 minutes and you will have found lots
and lots of different pipes and hoses that you could use!)
-Jubilee clips to attach the hose to the filter and the intake
(you would probably get one of these with your filter)

Here we go!
So you have got your filter box from the scrappy that was taken of the Astra, or a Corsa.

You first need to modify this slightly so that it sits snug onto the air intake,
flip it over and you will see a lip around the hole, this needs removing (with the hack saw).
As you can see by this picture, the one on the left is how it was originally
and the one on the right is the one which has been removed.

As this is only going to be screwed down with only 1 bolt,
you need to cover up the other hole where the bolt goes in.
(the hole furthest away from the GM letters)
The easiest way i found to do this was to place the bolt into
the hole and seal it up with silicone adhesive!

Right then, if you look around the box you will find that there are two sorts
of holes that had wires going into it (dont ask what they were!)
but your not going to need these, so take any little bits of plastic
off and you will be left with 2 small holes.
find some way to cover them up, maybe with the silicone,
I haven't actually done this yet, and I have just put
a lot of tape over them for the mean time!

So now you want to open your bonnet and take off your original filter.
once it is all off, take your modified filter box and place it on top
of the air intake... woooo! as if it was made for the job,
fits nice and snug around the air intake, thanks GM!

Now its the fiddly part! if you look at your air intake you will
see that there are holes around the edge, these holes are not
doing anything and I used them to screw my filter box down !
(the hole on the filter box and the hole on the air intake match up perfect!!!
this is getting weird!?!?)

So here is the air intake, take a good look at this picture and note which hole is used !!!
(the one with threads in !!) Maybe this picture will help too

To make a M10 bolt screw down into that hole, you are going to need to use a M10
thread cutting tap with the tap wrench, one of these !
You are going to have to be very careful that you do this right the first time !
because if you mess it up you will ruin the hole and you wont be able to bolt it down !!!!!
So take the M10 thread cutting tap and cut threads into the hole (make sure its the right hole)
take a M10 size bolt and try it out!

You can use any kind of M10 bolt that is long enough to fit through the filter
box and into the threaded hole, but if you havent noticed by now,
I have used the original bolt that came with the filter box and modified it slightly, take a look..
I used a bolt that was size M10 and cut it down to fit into the origianl bolt.
I probably did this the hard way, and im sure if you find a bolt that
fits any way then that would be easier !
I told you this was the fiddly bit!

You can now take your filter box and try it out with the bolt holding it down! Perfect !!!!!!
This is basically the hardest bit and the most important bit, as now you
have the air intake coming from the side, which means you can
have your filter sitting anywhere on the left side of your engine bay,
instead of those K&N filters that sit on top.

So now you have to think about finding a hose that will fit from the box to your
desired place for your filter! I was probably very lucky to find this pipe
from a Renault van, its the right size to fit snug around the filter box,
and its the right length to have my filter sitting above the left wheel
arch which is sitting over a clear space going down to the road ( clean air!)
But as I said, there are so many different pipes and hoses from different cars
if you look around a scrappy, that i am sure you could find another way!

when taking off your original filter you would of noticed 2 little pipes going
into the filter box...well the Astra filter box hasn't let us down yet,
as there is a small tip where the pipe from your rocker cover can be
attached to your new filter box, fits fine with your original pipe too!
The other pipe which was also going into the filter box, is some sort of vacuum pipe
(maybe some one could tell me what this actually is for..) but I found
that if you block it off it doesn't actually effect anything!

You can now attach the pipe to the filter box and use the jubilee clips to keep it tight,
and then attach the sports filter to the other end!
My filter came with different sized spacer things which came in handy to attach it to the pipe!

And there we have it, the Red Neck induction kit!
