Heres a nice little guide for you to do on a rainy day.
In this guide we show you how to change your boring BLACK heater control face to WHITE.
This guide is meant for the Mk3 Fiesta

Print out the control diagram onto the back of Ilford Photo Printasia Photo Satin Paper from staples.
Use the back for a good reason; it looks better than the front,
its too shiny on the front.
Leave to dry for 24 hours other wise it will smudge.
Cut out the template on the inside of the line

Original Controls
While sat in the car , you must remove the heater control dial and the slider knobs,
this is done by gently pulling them towards you.
now using a small screwdriver, prise out the control pannel from the left hand side.
disconnecting the bulb holder from behind
|
|
Now with the control panel out of the dash you can now proceed to take it apart.
Using a sharp knife, run it around the edge of the white and black sections to break the glue seal.
Seperate the two halves, now you are ready to remove the original face.

|
Face
Removing the old face is simple, just peel it from one end to the other.
At this point it may be messy as the glue may still be on the white plastic bit.
If so , it will need to be cleaned off, do this with a cotton bud and any solvent based cleaner.
Notice that the back of the face is green. this is what gives the colour to the display when the bulb is shined onto it.
If you want to keep the face black but change the colour behind it,
all you have to do is use nail polish remover and a rag or cotton buds and rub the green off the back.

Cut out your white control
With the Black controls removed, now is the time to cut out your new White control pannel.
Cut just within the lines and apply double sidded sticky tape to the reverse of the new controls and position
onto the white plastic and press firmly.
push the two halves of the control unit together and put a few drops of
superglue on each of the corners to hold the unit together.
|
|
Put the unit back into the car by reversing the removal process.
You may noice that the unit lights up an orangy colour now.
nothing to worry about really as you didn't want to keep that colour now did you?
As in a future guide we will show you how to change the colour of that bulb by using LED's.

Hope this guide is of some help.
