Here is a guide written by a friend of mine, Steve from doncaster,
it is to show you how to install the mk3 optional lower spoiler to your boot lid.

Some people say they look rubish and dated but other people like them, so this guide is for you.

Tools Needed:

Drill and Drill bits
Socket set
Screwdrivers
Sand paper/ Wet & dry 600 to 1200 grit
Filler Primer x1 can
Primer x2 cans
Topcoat x2 cans
Lacquer x1 can
Rubbing compound x1 can
High Gloss polish
Glue
new nuts/fixings

Lower Spoiler-

colour coding

Ok guys this is my first guide so forgive me if its abit naff lol

Ok first of all you need a lower spoiler :D

Step 1. Prep - paint the spoiler. Use the body colour coding guide for info.

Step 2. Mark out the positions to where bolts are going to be drilled into the boot.
The easiest way I found to do this is to place the spoiler against the boot
and use the bolts to scratch the places to be drilled.

Step 3. Car Prep - I found it easier to remove the rear wiper (if you have one).
Also open the boot and remove the plastic cover on the inside if the boot -
this makes it easy to see where the drill bit comes through (the middle two anyway).

step 4 - Drilling - with the scratches marked out, use a drill bit a little
abit bigger than the bolts on the spoiler so they fit nicely through
( the more snug the hole the less chance of any water leaking into the boot) and causing rust.

Tip: start by drilling the middle two (these are the easiest),
you should be able to see where the bit has come through by looking inside
the boot through where the plastic panel was.

Now with the middle two holes, you can test the spoiler to see if the threads line up to the holes.

The outer two are trickier as you have to drill through two layers of the boot.
Start with the left side. Drill as before and keep going until the 2nd layer has been broken.

Then with a MUCH BIGGER drill bit drill the inside where the small drill bit came through
- this has to be wide enough to get a socket through!!

*Now with the right side you must be care full as the wires linking the rear wiper motor
(if you have one) and the wire for the number plate light are ran through here.*

Slowly drill the outer layer until you just break through, look into the boot with a
torch to see if you can see the wires. If they are in the way, use a screw driver
and gently try to move them to the side. Put the drill through the hole you've
just made and break through the inner layer.

Now same as with the other side, use the bigger drill bit and slowly make the bigger
hole in the inside, taking care not to damage the wires inside.

Now re place the rear wiper before the spoiler goes on!

Step 5 - Bolting up - now with spoiler in place, start again with the middle two threads as their easiest.
Slide on a washer and the bolt and hand tight up the bolts.

Tip: The outer two are quite tricky but here's a cheat way I found out.

To get the washer and bolt on with out losing the washer or bolt inside the boot,
use a bit of blue tack or no more nails to stick the washer to the bolt,
so as the nut sits in the socket, the washer sits above it everything so
its in order then to be pushed through the inner drilled hole and on to the
thread to be tightened up. Once these are fully tight, go back and tighten up the middle two bolts

Hey presto, one lower spoiler.

Don't forget to put the plastic cover back on inside the boot as I did lol Hope this helps
