Here is a guide to install braided front lines to a MK5 Fiesta.

Why should i?, I hear you cry.

Well it will improve your braking no end as it removes the spoungy feel that comes with the Fiesta as standard.
They are stronger
and look nice.

Tools Needed:

x2 Braided brake hoses
Spanners
Trolley jack
Axel stands
Tie wraps
Rags
Brake fluid

Braided

Safe!

Applies to:
All MK5's
lines

1. Follow normal proceedure to remove the road wheel - one side at a time. Dont forget axel stands.

(ignore the white tape)

2. If you folllow the hose upwards you will see the connecting nuts level with the
spring part of the front shocker. Give these a good WD40-ing.

3. Now undo the metal braket that holds the pipe to the shocker.
Its a 17mm i think. Note this is all one piece.

4. Ok now you will need to undo the front clip on the brake caliper and undo the two
nuts at the rear of the caliper to revove the caliper. The carrier can remain.

Note: dont let the caliper drop - its heavy and not good for the connections.
I found it best to rest it on an axel stand while not in use.

OK now the hard part - there is two ways to do this depending on if you want
to flush all the brake fluid or keep what you have.

a) if you want to flush the brake fluid (recommended if a blacky colour) you
can allow the fluid to drain out in the following steps.

b) If not, you will need rags and to be quick as possible

5. Now you need to remove the caliper from the hose. Use the corect size spanner to brake the tight seal to the caliper.

Note: To remove the caliper, you must turn the caliper around, not the pipe.

i) If you choose to change the brake fluid you can now let the fluid drain into a
bucket or something - makes things easier while changing the hoses too.

REMEMBER - DONT LET BRAKE FLUID TOUCH YOUR PAINT WORK! BE SAFE WITH IT!!

ii) If you choosing not to replace the fluid -- good luck, be quick

6. Now you need to dis connect the hose from the brake pipe. To do this you will need a 17mm spanner to go on the bottom nut, and a (sorry cant remember the size) on the top big nut (as in the picture below). Hold the bottom nut still and turn the top to release the pipe from the hose. i) If you didnt drain the brake fluid, try to keep the fluid from going over everything, plus it makes the job messy.

7. On the metal mounting bracket, use a flat brade screw driver to try to prise
out the metal washer type bit on top. Then hose should just wiggle through the metal braket.

lines

8. With the new braided hose (make sure you have the right end),
feed the top through the metal mounting and connect the brake pipe nut.

lines

9. Now you need to re connect the brake caliper. Remember that the caliper must
be turned and not the hose. Then refit the caliper to the hub in place.

You will need to make sure that there are no kinks in the brake hose and that all the connections are tight and solid.

10. As the metal mount that connects to the shocker is not used, the braided pipe
is free to cause obstruction so i found it best to use a meaty
tie wrap and fasten it to the shocker (as in the pic below).

11. Repeat with the other side.

Now you have the hoses changed, you will now need to bleed the system for any trapped air and add more brake fluid if necessary.

Please follow the guide to do this.
