In this guide I will show you how to fit an optional RS upper spoiler to your fiesta.
The optional RS spoiler is completely different to the standard black fiesta spoiler,
as it has no lower exposed fixings. Meaning that it only has two
secure fixings and the rest is held down with glue.
Tools Needed:
Drill and Drill bits
Various drill bits
Socket set
Parts Needed:
Spoiler
Nuts
Washers
Glue like pink grip or silofix
Plastic bungs
Touch up paint

Upper RS Spoiler-
No Fixings
|
|
Start off by painting the spoiler to the colour of your car, using the guide in the body section,
then clean the top of the boot lid or even the whole car if you want.
If like my spoiler it had no fixings at all you will need to
restud it useing the guide in the body section again.
Using a bit of card, punch a hole in it so the bolt pokes through,
then draw around the spoiler and cut it out, this has to be accurate.
|
|
Place this template onto the top of the boot lid, making sure it's aligned correctly
and mark the hole for the bolt.(In the pic I moved the template, opps)
flip the template over and use for the other side.
|
|
If you are sure that the marks are in the right place then you can drill your marks,
be careful the drill doesn't slip, try and use a small pilot drill and move up to the bigger size.
Make sure you stop drying as it breaks through the surface
|
|
If you haven't noticed by now there is no access hole on the back of the boot lid.
So you will need to open the boot lid and place something between the boot lid and the rubber seal.
This is to protect it whilst you return to the outside of the boot and continue
to drill through the second skin., drill out the pilot hole to 10mm.
This still isn't big enough for the socket to fit through.
|
|
place the socket up to the hole and draw around it , then use a dermal or such like to cut the hole larger.
|
|
With all the cut surfaces and bare metal you will need to seal them
with new paint to stop them from rusting. Use a touch up pen.
|
|
If you want you can add two more screws into the spoiler from the rear via the plastic access panels on the back of the boot,
simply prise them out and drill through the metal, making sure you seal the holes again.
|
|
Using some sandpaper, slightly rough up the mating surface of the spoiler and boot lip,
this will make the clue stick better.
Apply a thin line of glue into the groves on the back of the spoiler
|
|
Place the spoiler onto the boot lid and press firmly, the glue should grab, but just in-case,
get some one to hold the spoiler whilst you tighten up the nuts in the corners,
use a small washer between the nut and the metal, a tip here is to apply a bit of
glue to the washer so it sticks to the nut and the socket, to stop it falling into the boot.
Through the two centre access panels, where you drilled a hole,
you need to fit two small screws into the spoiler.
|
|
Clean off any excess glue and fit the plastic blanking plugs over and into the holes
|
|
Tidy up and you're done. Below is a picture of the complete rear wnd with the lower spoiler as well.

Thats it my fellow fiesta lovers Hope It helps,
Feel free to discuss it in the forums
