In this guide I will show you how to fabricate some plates to fit under the Fiesta RS Turbo bonnet vents.
But why? You ask,
its to stop water from the rain dropping ont the aux belt, alternator and the battery.
Tools and Parts Needed:
Dermal with cutting and grinding discs,
Pozi screwdriver.
Pen
Card
Sheet metal,
Drill and bits
New screws and washers
They look nice,!
Practical too
Nice and shiny
First off, you need to remove the bonnet vent,
this is done by taking out the three screws from the rear.
Now take the card and lay the vent on top and draw around it.
Now cut out the template then place it in the bonnet and mark the mounting holes
There you have the template made, you only need this one as you can reverse it for the other side.
Now draw around the template onto sheet metal
Using the dermal cut out the cover, making sure the Sharpe edges are taken off with the grinding disc
Repeat this for the other side making sure you reverse the template.
Place the template onto the plates again and drill a small pilot hole
to mark the mounting points followed by a larger drill bit.
With the new holes created and the metal being brushed I decided to go for the
stainless steel button head Allen bolts.
Its fitting time, basically put the button head through the plate followed by a washer
to space the plate away from the bonnet then into the vent,
make sure its tight but don't over tighten it.
Repeat for the other side and stand back and admire,
shame the rest of the bay isn't done.
There you have it,
Hope this guide is of some help.
